The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has denied a motion by Gallaudet University to extend the deadline of the Structure and Practices of the VRS Program, CG Docket No. 10-51. The ruling calls for eligible VRS providers (such as Gallaudet) to become certified by the FCC. It also says that a VRS provider cannot use a third party as part of its services unless that party is also an eligible provider. The ruling is effective on November 15, 2011. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will hold a public meeting on November 16, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time in Washington, DC. The following matters will be considered during the meeting: Vote on “Final Regulation on Disparate Impact and Reasonable Factors Other Than Age” under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and a panel discussion on “Overcoming Barriers to the Employment of Veterans with Disabilities.” Also, the EEOC will examine unlawful discrimination in employment and other challenges that Veterans with disabilities may face.
