DLP TVs - 2011 Holiday Gift Idea

LCD and Plasma TVs are now the kings of the hill when it comes to TV shopping, but Rear projection TVs actually provide a bigger screen viewing experience at a lower cost than either LCD or Plasma. Although most manufacturers are no longer making rear projection TVs, Mitsubishi has stayed the course with an impressive line of large screen projection TVs based on DLP technology. All of these sets can display 2D and 3D images, and some also feature internet streaming capabilities. So, if you are finding that those large screen LCD and Plasma TVs are not quite large enough, then check out some really big DLP TVs.

HOMEMADE SUAGR SCRUB RECIPES AND PACKAGING IDEAS!!

As I have already told you guys, I am making some homemade gifts this year. The first of gifts, I want to share with you guys is these wonderful sugar scrubs. I have made some of these and compared them to my bath and body sugar scrubs and I promise you.. mine are just as good..

So first off the recipes and then you will see a bunch of pictures on how to package them for gifts. They are not my pictures but inspiration!
Now you can switch these up with any kind of essential oil that you want.. I think a cute is a candy cane sugar scrub and all you would do to make it is use any of the recipes below.. but I think the white sugar scrub would work best for this and add some peppermint essential oils..

Simple stuff!

Very simple first recipe..

white sugar

brown sugar

Olive Oil

Vanilla

Equal parts of sugar, mix together,

add enough olive oil to the consistency you like

and 1 capful

of vanilla

mix well

Put in a jar with a lid and enjoy!
---------------------------------------------------------------------

1 cup pure cane sugar

1 cup vegetable oil

Oil from one vitamin E capsule

1-2 drops essential oil (e.g., lavender, orange, lemon)

1 16oz. glass container with a lid

Combine all the ingredients in a medium bowl until well blended. Using a spatula, transfer the mix into the container and secure the lid. Contents will settle, mix before using. Scoop a teaspoon or two of the scrub onto your hands/feet/elbows and gently massage in circular motions onto your skin. The scrub will tighten on your skin. Leave on for 3-4 minutes before thoroughly rinsing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Exact same recipe as above but with granulated sugar..

White Cane Glimmer Sugar Scrub

White Cane Glimmer Sugar Scrub1 cup - Granulated Sugar

1 cup - vegetable oil

Oil from 1 vitamin E capsule

1 or 2 drops - of essential oil, lavender or orange

1 16oz. - glass container with lid
Combine all of the ingredients in a medium bowl until well blended. Using a spatula, transfer mix into the container and secure lid. Contents will settle, mix before using. Scoop a teaspoon or two of the scrub on your hands and gently massage in circular motions onto your skin. Leave on for 3 to 4 minutes before thoroughly rinsing. The scrub will tighten on your skin.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brown Sugar Body Scrub Recipes

Brown Sugar Body ScrubWe know the perfect way to relax after a long day of baking! Try this luxurious homemade spa treatment using a delicious aromatic blend of Dark or Light Brown Sugar, moisturizing oils and fresh fragrances. You can also create this homemade sugar scrub, as a thoughtful, low-cost gift that will make your friends feel a little sweeter!

Brown Sugar Body Scrub

1/2 cup ground almonds

1/2 cup ground oatmeal

1/2 cup Dark Brown Sugar, packed

1/4 cup almond oil

1 tsp. vanilla extract

Small containers with lids

Combine all ingredients using a spatula in a large bowl until well blended. Mix should have a paste-like texture. If it is too dry, add more oil a few drops at a time. Conversely, if it is too oily, add more dry ingredients until you reach the desired consistency. Keep stored in tightly sealed jars. May need to mix before use if ingredients settle.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Sweet N’ Spicy Brown Sugar Scrub

1 cup - Dark or Light Brown Sugar

1 cup -Granulated Sugar

¾ cup - almond oil

2 tsp. - ground cinnamon

2 tsp. - ground ginger

2 tsp. - ground nutmeg

1 16 oz. - glass container with lid

Cinnamon sticks, optional

In a medium-sized bowl, combine all ingredients until thoroughly blended. Be sure to break up any lumps from the brown sugar or from the spices. Spoon into the glass container and secure with lid. Scoop a teaspoon or two of the scrub on your hands and gently massage in circular motions onto your skin. Leave on for 3 to 4 minutes before thoroughly rinsing. The scrub will tighten on your skin.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Honey Almond Sleepy Sugar Scrub:

Mix about 3 parts white sugar and 1 part honey.
2 Tablespoons tea (I brewed an extra strong cup of Sleepy Time tea)
1 Teaspoon almond extract. You could also use an essential oil here instead.
The consistency: Not oily runny everywhere, like the honey won’t mix all the way in.
Not breaking apart and lumpy like there is too much sugar:)
------------------------------------------

Vanilla Almond Brown Sugar Scrub:
Mix about 3 parts brown sugar and 2 parts olive oil
2 packets instant oatmeal (or about 1 cup oats)
Handful of almonds
1 teaspoon almond extract or an essential oil
Mix all in a food processor, or beat a bunch with a spoon (and chop the almonds)
This consistency will be more grainy , but should still have a little movement in it.
You really can’t mess this up…if in doubt, use it yourself and see if your hands feel too oily afterwards.
If so, add more oats or sugar…

--------------------------------------------------------

Application:

Gently apply to wet skin in a circular motion, concentrating on dry patches and rough areas of your skin. Avoid using the scrub on sensitive areas, in cuts or on skin that is irritated or sunburned. Sugar scrubs are also not recommended for the face. Thoroughly rinse with warm water.

Caution: the oil in the sugar scrub can cause the tub to become slippery.

Have fun creating your own signature body scrub by experimenting with various scents from essential oils like grapefruit, lavender or peppermint, found in specialty markets or crafts stores. If you add any natural fruit or dairy products to your scrub, we recommend you refrigerate for up to two weeks.

Tips:

A little goes a long way with the sugar body scrub when giving as gifts. Use small mason jars or washed out baby food jars as containers. Decorate the lids buy cutting out fabric scraps in a circle shape about 2 inches larger than the lid. Glue the fabric to the lid, then tie a pretty coordinating ribbon, gathering the fabric, around the neck of the jar. Be sure to include a small tag with the application instructions and don’t forget to let the recipient know that you were the one sweet enough to make these for them!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tag Idea..
Homemade Sugar Scrub
Contains: white & brown sugars; vitamin E, almond and orange oils. Directions: Scoop a teaspoon or two of the scrub on your hands and gently massage in circular motions onto your skin

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Packaging Inspiration!!

Hope this inspires you to try one or more of the recipes for gifts. I think a lot of people will be happy with theses. When I make mine, I will be sure to post step by step pictures and instructions but as you can tell.. its pretty easy!

Let me know if you try this homemade gift and what everyone thinks of it!

In the air...

Tumblr_lvef1nsfeg1r5gdwso1_500_large

December will be here in less than 24 hours. I can feel Christmas in the air!! In fact, I will probably do a little shopping today! I didn't get to bed till really late and I woke up to phone calls about the cats. A lot of people want females but I can't control how many of those my cats have! I am hoping for today to be a bit slower being I have things I have to do in while. After I am done with this post, I am going to get the post up for home made sugar scrubs because I promised it would be up YESTERDAY!! Its pretty much done except for few more notes. Then, time to clean up and head out. I will be out a while so don't look for me to be blogging till tonight sometime in the evening. Scott has to go to the auction at 7 and I suspect, you will hear from me before then!

I have checked on the kittens.. both are doing great and everyone seems to be very happy with their new babies! I am sure they will bring more love to their homes than they will ever expect.

Well.. need to get that post finished.. I want to try to be out of here by 130 at the latest.

Talk to you in a bit!

Have a great day and be sure to check out the homemade sugar scrub post! Its a great homemade gift and I am making a ton of it! =))

The iOS Academy: Gifting Apps

The iOS Academy: Gifting Apps

If you are in a turkey induced fog and are still recovering from staying up all night on Black Friday it can only mean one thing: it is now officially the Christmas shopping season! Which, of course, means the act of gift giving. But, what if you just want to give the gift of apps?

You are in luck because in today’s iOS Academy we’re going to show you how to gift apps from your iOS device’s App Store and on your computer via iTunes.

First and foremost if you aren’t a regular iTunes or App Store user you are going to need to sign up for an Apple ID and enter your credit card information so you can make purchases. As an alternative, to avoid confusion, you can always purchase iTunes gift cards from most any retailer these days.

We’ll start off in the App Store on your iOS device. First thing you want to do is tap the App Store icon on your home screen, search for the app you want to gift, open it, and tap gift app in the upper right corner.

On the iPhone it is a bit different in the way you find the gift app button. You just need to scroll down a bit further on the app’s page and you will find it there and just follow the same steps as below.

An info pane will pop up displaying all the app’s information including: requirements, age suitability, and price. Tap next, then enter the recipients name and email address as well as a personal message.

Tap next again and you will be taken to the final confirmation page that displays your message, app selected, and price. Just tap buy gift and you are all done. Your recipient will then receive an email immediately explaining to them how they can download the app to their device.

Next up we’re going to show you how to do the very same thing using iTunes on your Mac or PC. Once you have launched iTunes you’ll want to click iTunes Store in the left sidebar. Up along the top of the store you’ll notice a dark navigation bar, inside it click the App Store link.

Go ahead and search for the app you are wishing to gift and when you find it click on it. Once you are taken to the app’s page, right beside where it says “buy app” is an arrow pointing down, click it. You’ll see a drop down menu offering several different options, in our case we want to click “gift this app.”

You’ll then be taken to a screen similar to that on an iOS device where you enter the recipients name, email address, and then type a personal message to accompany the app. Lastly you’ll see a page displaying all of this information for review, just click “buy gift” and you are done.

The recipients will receive an email telling them to redeem their gift by clicking on the button. Once they do that they are taken to the App Store where they are then able to download the gifted app directly.

There you have it, a super easy way to give the gift of apps. We usually see an increase in iOS users around this time of year and this will allow you to help them add to their app catalog. As always, if you have any feedback or questions, you can reach me here.

Nighty Night..

3 am and I really need to be getting to bed. One good thing about tomorrow is I am on MY schedule, no one elses, so I am going to sleep and dream as much as much as I want. Clean what I want, blog when I want and not have a care in the world in regard to time.

It was a long day for me. I don't know why I was so tired by the end of the night but I sure was feeling it about 9 pm. I should have just called it a night at that point and went to bed but that didn't happen.

Btw.. is that not the sweetest picture? My kittys mean so much to me. I can't stand to think about the calls that are going to be coming in this week of possible new owners for them. It makes me sad..but its ok.. I don't have to sell any of them if I don't want to but its best.. Got to make room for the next litter. And, no ... none of the girls are pregnant right now..I am hoping by spring or summer that will be changed!

Check this poster out..

Is that not funny! If you are a cat owner you will for sure know how true it is!

I did manage to do my nails tonight and I FOR SURE have a new FAVORITE COLOR!!!! Yep.. I am excited with this color I have on and I am going back to get a few more bottles sometime soon. I love it.. and will post pictures tomorrow.. I will give you a hint..its # 370.. You know what, if you can guess the color and it to an email to be before I wake up tomorrow ( prob 1 pm'ish ) I will buy you a bottle too! I love it that much!

I am sure loving the holiday decorations around here tonight. The lights are twinkling and the snow flakes look so pretty hanging from the fireplace. I can't see the tree unless I am in the other part of the house but when I walk by those french doors I see..

and those doors are a life saver. We had both french doors wide open and we thought the kittys were doing so good leaving it alone. We leave the house for 30 minutes and come home and there are 4 ornaments on the floor along with a kitty toy.. So they were busted and we shut the door! It's pretty in there even though those doors!

I got another new series coming up on here for TUESDAY"S.. I will tell you more about it tomorrow but I think its going to be fun and informative! Can't wait to show you what I came up with.. from cleaning up the study!

Also..I promise that this upcoming week, I will be working on getting some of the homemade gift ideas and instructions up on here for any of you that want to make some too! That email from that 16 year old was so kind and sweet and I hope that everyone knows that Christmas is not just about getting people things. It is also about putting your heart into it and making gifts of love too. I am doing a mix of both!

Well.. its late, I need sleep.

I hope you guys have a great Monday. Its suppose to be cold and rainy here all day so another great reason to sleep in and stay home!

xoxo

Holiday Decorations with 5 VIDEO's !! =))

Late night hello friends..

Its been a loooooong day but I am finished with everything that I am doing today and I am happy happy with the decorations that we got up today.. Still more to go but here's how the day went!

First off, we got the tree brought in..

and the kitty cats loved it!

They were bouncing all over it..

Here's a video for ya!

Those little cats get into everything!

Mean while..

husby was busy getting lights up outside..

and it was pretty easy.. we only did the front porch and..

it doesn't hurt that he's tall! He was on a ladder but for the most part.. he could reach without it!

Almost done!!

I was busy getting the lights up on the tree and

Getting the ornaments out and organized!!

Here's another video!

Pretty ornaments huh!?

I then started getting the ribbons on..

I think ribbons and bows make any tree look beautiful!

see how sweet that is..

But I forgot something!! Just wait you will see!!

Lights are up and on!

And I think it kinda looks enchanting with the lights. Pretty!!

As you can see, I forgot to add the pink lights before the bows and ribbon!! Thank goodness, I didn't have the ornaments up at that point!!

Now the pink lights make it look better!!

And it's done!!

Here's another video!!

I just think this tree is so

Pretty!

And one of my favorite parts of it is..

this adorable poodle tree skirt!!

Husby then got busy with the

Train that was going in that area above the door!

Again thank goodness he's tall!

Pretty huh!?

I got that on video too!

I have been wanting to fill that little

area up for a while now!!

Also got a little bit of the mantel done.. still more to do on this too!

But the pretty snow flakes are hanging from it!

Scott also hung

this big ornament up too.. BTW.. those boxes are to prevent the kittens from going over!

And we have Santa to greet people

right in the entrance!

So see.. I didn't forget you guys today! I was just busy!!

Hope you like the decorations!

xoxo
