Google Translate iOS app updated

Google TranslateIf you’re a fan of the Google Translate app on your iOS device, you’ll be pleased to know that Google has launched a new update for it today. The update brings iOS 5 support to the app, the usual host of bug fixes and tweaks, and five new experimental Indic languages: Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil and Telgu. This brings the total number of languages supported by the app to 63 languages – which should be more than what most normal people can speak.

Bear in mind that these languages are still in experimental alpha stages, so you can expect translations to be less than fluent and will contain a lot of untranslated words compared to the more mature languages available (Spanish or Chinese). However, having support is better than having no support at all, so for those of you who need the services of Google to translate those new languages head over to the Apple App Store to download the latest version of Google Translate now.
