Turkey Day can feel more like D-Day for someone with diabetes or a weight problem. The traditional Thanksgiving menu is a “carb-fest” with baked goods, mashed potatoes, stuffing, plus all those sweet pies, cakes, cookies, and goodies. It's no wonder the average adult consumes nearly 5,000 calories on Thanksgiving Day – most of them refined carbohydrates that cause big trouble for people trying to manage their blood sugar.
